What Hulk Hogan taught us

Written by Ryan Blanck

Do you recognize this icon? Odds are, yes... even Granny knows this is Hulk Hogan. Love him, like so many do, or hate him... you know this man. And, if you were alive in the mid-80s you may have been, and may still be this day, a Hulkamaniac.

Can you list the three things Hogan always told his Hulkamaniacs? (Think about it before going on.)

  1. Train,
  2. Say your prayers, and
  3. Eat your vitamins.

Now, I don't expect everyone to know these; I do expect many people to recognize his picture. For those who followed Hulk Hogan I'm sure most could recite those three items (and it has been over 25 years).

So, what does this teach us today?

Have a message, keep it simple, and repeat it often. Hogan repeated these three items all of the time. He also never lost sight of his audience, young kids, and his message was simple... they could implement these three immediately.

How can you apply this into your world?

  • What's your message?
  • Who is your audience?
  • Is your mission statement eight words or less?
  • How often and in what ways do you communicate your message?
  • Who will remember your "train, say your prayers, and eat your vitamins" in 25+ years?

Thanks for the lessons Hulk... you're the man.
