Ric SweeneyCreativity, Innovation, and Personal Branding Strategist

Known for his passion for success, Ric Sweeney is an experienced marketer and educator who has inspired students and organizations to think smarter and use creativity and innovation to achieve their goals. As a personal branding strategist, Ric uses the principles of brand development and brand management to help individuals and groups discover, develop, and promote their own personal brand.

Ric is the Undergraduate Marketing Program Director and an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Cincinnati, where he has been recognized for his teaching excellence and service to students and student organizations.  Ric has been recognized by the American Marketing Association, Order of Omega, and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity for his dedication to student success.

His teaching portfolio includes Introduction to Marketing, Services Marketing, Advertising, eMarketing, and Personal Branding / Business Professionalism. His industry background includes experience in a variety of marketing disciplines, including branding, advertising, market research, product development, services marketing, and measurement/tracking in numerous product/service industries, including banking, healthcare and foodservice equipment/supplies.

Ric is a Faculty Fellow and Renaissance Brother with Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, teaching courses in Personal Branding and Branding within the SigEp Residential Learning Community. Ric has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Marketing Association, the nation's largest organization for marketing professionals, and is currently a member of the AMA Audit & Finance Committee.  Ric previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Marketing Association Foundation, was President of the AMA's Professional Chapters Council, and is a past-President of the Cincinnati Chapter of the AMA.

CARRER HIGHLIGHTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Co-chaired and led the American Marketing Association’s Leadership Summit, bringing together AMA chapter leaders throughout North America to build chapter excellence.
  • Received the Hugh G Wales Faculty Advisor of the Year Award from the American Marketing Association for excellence in student organization service.
  • A 3-time winner of the Harold J Grilliot Award for Service from the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H Lindner College of Business.
  • Received the Order of Omega Professor of the Year Award for excellence in teaching and service to students.
